iPhone Apps - Weathericon

If you're the sort of person that likes to see what the weather is at a glance, then maybe you've already installed an alternative weather app to the stock weather app on your iPhone.

Then again maybe you haven't. Either way it doesn't matter for this handy Weather Icon tweak which enables live weather information right on top of your weather app icon on your homescreen.

Once enabled, you have the option to show the image included in the tweak i.e. a copy of the stock weather icon with live temperature info on the icon. Additionally you can enable the badge, which will also display the temperature above the icon.

Weather Icon is pretty versatile since you can choose which weather application to which you'd like to apply the tweak, and also puts the temperature in your status bar. There is also the option to display an image in your status bar but this requires an install of a Weather Icon theme, of which there are some available on Cydia. Beware though, currently Winterboard and themes are still rather unstable on iOS4, and many themes have not been updated for the iPhone 4's magnificent retina display.

Finally, under the weather settings submenu, is the option to set refresh times and if you want to apply the wind chill factor. If you want to override the default location that is used (same location that is used for the stock iPhone weather app), then there is also an option for you to do so using Yahoo! location codes. Last but not least, you can set the temperature units.

Weather Icon is available to download from David Ashman's repo on Cydia.

Edit: The latest update shows the status bar icon without the requirement for a theme, and the actual homescreen weather icon changes between day and night.
