One app that let's you do just that is David Ashman's LockInfo.LockInfo let's you put a whole raft of info on your LockScreen, HomeScreen and now InfoShade, a blind that comes down over your screen activated by a shake of your device, long press on the status bar, pinch of the springboard or many other options - you decide!
