PwnageTool 4.2 for Mac OS X Jailbreaks iOS 4.3.1 on iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch

We have some good news for all iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch users who internationally / accidentally updated their device to the recently released iOS 4.3.1. Well, we all know that apple already launches the iOS 4.3.1 for for iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 1, iPad, iPod Touch 4G, and iPod Touch 3G, but the good news is that you will be able to jailbreak this new iOS using the PwnageTool 4.2 for Mac OS X. Yes, it is the same PwnageTool released by the iPhone Dev Team that jailbreaks iOS 4.2.1. This was made possible because of the help of DjayB6 on the 4.3.1 jailbreak bundle and Universal Ramdisk Fixer.

From RedmondPie:

“The just released iOS 4.3.1 firmware update for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch has been successfully jailbroken, courtesy of some swift work by DjayB6 on iOS 4.3.1 jailbreak bundle, and Universal Ramdisk Fixer. The jailbreak though is tethered only for now, which means that you will have to boot it into jailbroken state every time you reboot.”

Additionally, PwnageTool 4.2 for Mac OS X is a tethered jailbreak method only, and it is not a stable jailbreak. This only means that you will have to use the tetheredboot utility on your Mac Os X every time you reboot.

Furthermore, iPhone users who rely on Ultrasn0w carrier unlock will greatly benefit on this because they will be able to unlock their iPhone. PwnageTool 4.2 has capability to jailbreak iPhones on iOS 4.3 while maintaining / preserving its unlockable baseband and restring the device in a pre-jailbroken iOS 4.3.1. But as mentioned previously, this is still unstable jailbreak method. So ig you aren’t sure on what you are doing, it is advisable to stay away from iOs 4.3.1 and PwnageTool 4.2 and wait for the iPhone Dev Team to update their jailbreak tool for this new software update. Stay tuned.
