Limera1n, Greenpois0n, and Sn0wbreeze Jailbreak Tool Has Been Patched in iPad 2 iOS 4.3

This is bad news! iH8sn0w, the popular iPhone hacker, and the mastermind behind the sn0wbreeze jailbreak tool for Windows, has confirmed via tweet that the Cupertino, California-based Apple has patched GeoHot’s Limera1n exploit in iPad 2, and possibly on other upcoming iOS devices. Meaning, all current software jailbreak tools (i.e. Greenpois0n, Sn0wbreeze, PwnageTool, and Redsn0w) that has been used to jailbreak previous and recently released iOS will not work on iPad 2 (all model), because these jailbreaking tools incorporates GeoHot’s bootrom based Limera1n exploit in order to jailbreak the iOS.

iH8snow: “Confirmed: limera1n is patched in iPad 2.”

For those who don't know, GeoHot launches the Limera1n jailbreak tool to jailbreak the iOS 41 on iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. Limera1n is a hardware exploit, which means it can only be patched when they update the hardware of the device and that’s what Apple did. They upgraded the iPad 2 hardware.

But there’s still hope, the Chronic Dev Team is testing their SHAtter bootrom exploit to untethered jailbreak iOS 4.3 on iPad 2. Let’s all hope that SHAtter works on iOS 4.3. Additionally, MuscleNerd of the iPhone Dev Team has just announced that there are 3 or more iPhone hackers or Dev Teams working on untethered jailbreak solutions for iOS 4.3 and it is expected to be released soon.
