USB drive is an app that turns your iPhone into a USB Mass-Storage compatible drive just like any thumb drive. Unlike more common iPhone file storage programs that allow you to access your device by using WebDAV or other remote transfer protocols, USB Drive actually allows you to plug your iPhone in to any computer and access your storage just like you would with any other usb device. After testing all of these features, we're very happy to say that they have so far worked exactly as expected with few exceptions. In testing with both Windows and Macintosh computers, all of the files in our USB partition were easily accessible just by plugging in our phone, and without opening iTunes.
There are a few caveats to using this program, and they are relatively important so make sure you understand these before installing and using USB Drive. The first and most important catch is that you can't just access shared iPhone storage -- you actually need to create a new partition specifically for your usb access. This partition will then act exactly as if it were a regular thumb drive, but it CANNOT interact and mingle with the rest of your phone. In fact, once you create a USB drive partition you will no longer be able to access that space through iTunes or your regular iPhone channels, it will be exclusively for use as a USB device.
The second big catch is that once you turn on the USB drive you cannot generally access the phone as you regularly would be able to. Mac users have the option to continue using iTunes access along with the USB drive, but Windows users can only use the USB drive or iTunes at any one time, and a full reboot of the phone is required to change modes. This means that once you pick how your device should be used it is somewhat annoying to chagne modes.
Overall the program is very usefull and can come to the rescue in times where you need to transfer files outside of the typicall Apple ecosystem.
