Apple Blocks Jailbreaking in Its Stores

Apple still frowns on jailbreaking despite its legalization. In fact, it has effectively blocked JailbreakMe.com from being accessed in Apple retail outlets over its available WiFi networks.

Jailbreakme.com is an all around browser-based jailbreak shop for all iOS devices that uses a PDF security hole in the Mobile Safari browser in order to jailbreak iDevices.

This advent in jailbreaking has recently given rise to a number of people who have embarked on a task to jailbreak iDevices inside Apple Stores. These people seemed to have started with this new “thrill and aventure” after jailbreaking their own iPhones, iPods and iPads.

Of course, Apple is not happy about it after learning of the problem. It has since tried its best to curb the phenomenon by blocking the use of JailbreakMe.com in all its store’s premises. Customers who try to do so are promptly advised to stop what they’re doing.

Despite this, there were still reports of some customers still able to access the JailbreakMe.com site in some Apple locations. Reports mentioned that this was done via a connection to one’s own MyWi app. This bypasses the Apple Store’s own network thereby allowing easy access to JailbreakMe.

As of this time, it’s still a wait-and-see if Apple will come up with a better and innovative plan to fully stop this activity in its stores.
