We have some great news that will make the entire iPhone jailbreak community happy. German iPhone hacker and iPhone security specialist, the hacker who held responsible of the untethered jailbreak exploit used on iPhone Dev Team’s PwnageTool and Redsn0w as well as iH8sn0w Sn0wbreeze jailbreak tool, accounted via Twitter that his untethered jailbreak vulnerability still works on the recently released iOS 4.3.2. Meaning, you will be able to untether jailbreak your iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 4G, iPod Touch 3G, and iPad 1 running on iOS 4.3.2 using either (updated version) PwnageTool (exclusively for Mac OS X users), Redsn0w (for Mac OS X and Windows users) and Sn0wbreeze (exclusive for Windows users) in the near future.
According to Esser, his first generation iPad is currently running on a untethered jailbreak iOS 4.3.2. And he might render his untethered jailbreak exploit to the iPhone Dev Team by next week to incorporate it to their PwnageTool and Redsn0w, as well as Sn0wbreeze software jailbreak tool.
Here’s what Esser tweeted:
Apple has been nice. I just verified that the untether vulnerability is not fixed in iOS 4.3.2 – my Ipad 1 is running untethered jailbroken Of course the public untether binaries will not work with iOS 4.3.2 – I have to generate new untether binaries with new dyld/kernel offsets I won’t be able to create all the untether binaries before sunday, because I will be on planes, … The dev-team cannot produce the untether binaries on their own, because they don't have the source code to the untether exploit.
As quoted above, the iPhone Dev Team has no capability to crack the latest version of iPhone firmware using their PwnageTool or Redsn0w as the Dev Team doesn’t have the necessary code to get an untethered jailbreak. So if you want to get untethered iOS 4.3.2 jailbreak, then the best thing to do is to wait for the Esser and iPhone Dev Team to release a revamped version of software jailbreak tool.
As most of you probably know by now, the Cupertino, California-based Apple rolled out their latest version of iPhone firmware the iOS 4.3.2 for iPhone 4 (iOS 4.2.7 for Verizon CDMA iPhone 4), iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 4G, iPod Touch 3G, iPad 2, and iPad 1. As always, we strongly recommend, if you are an iPhone unlocker, to STAY AWAY from this software update and wait for the official announcement of the iPhone Dev Team regarding the new iOS for our beloved products. iPad 1 and iPad 2 users who don't care about jailbreaking and unlocking their device can now update to iOS 4.3.2 to fix numerous issues o heir 9.7 inch tablet PC, such as the #G network connection and frozen FaceTime video call issues.
Unsurprisingly, moments after the release of the new iOS, numerous reports surfaced that the iOS 4.3.2 for iPhone can be jailbroken using iPhone Dev team's PwnageTool 4.3 with PwnageTool Bundle (for Mac OS X users) and Redsn0w 0.9.6 (for Mac Os X and Windows users). However, it seems like apple fixed the untethered jailbreak exploit used on both jailbreak tool as they offer tethered jailbreak only. But for those who know what they are doing, then you can jailbreak iOS 4.3.2 on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch running using PwnageTool Bundle 4.3.2. The software package includes the latest version of PwnageTool, as well as the tethered boot app to boot your device to tethered jailbreak state. You can follow our step-by-step guide posted here using PwnageTool 4.3 with PwnageTool bundle.

Popular iPhone hacker Posixninja (or Joshua Hill) of the Chronic Dev Team – the Dev Team who held accountable for Greenpois0n jailbreak tool and SHAtter exploit - has just announced that the iPad 2 jailbreak solution is in the works. Posixninja has just confirmed via tweet that they working on the iPad 2 jailbreak on iOS 4.3 and may be 4.3.2. It is very much likely that the Chronic Dev team will update their Greenpois0n to version RC7 with iPad 2 jailbreak package.
Here’s what p0sixninja tweeted:
“Since 4.3.1 is already exploited by the legendary @i0n1c, we’re working on finishing iPad2 jailbreak now.”
The iPhone Dev team together with Stefan Esser (also known as i0nic) already released the untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.3.1 on iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad1 and iPod Touch3G and 4G. If you unaware, Esser has just jumped to the iPhone jailbreaking scene for the very first time and he quickly discovered a new vulnerability, developed an exploit and he handed it to the iPhone Dev Team. After that, the Dev Team released it in the form of Redsn0w 0.9.6 RC9 and PwnageTool 4.3. iH8sn0w also utilizes Esser’s untethered jailbreak in his Sn0wbreeze 2.5 for Windows users.
In case you don’t know, the Cupertino, California-based Apple already patched up some iPad 2 jailbreak exploit in iOS 4.3 and iOS 4.3.1 found by the Chronic Dev Team, GeoHot’s Limera1n exploit, and lastly, Comex iPad 2 kernel exploit. Until now, it is quite unsure if Comex will still release his JailbreakMe 3.0 to jailbreak iPad 2.
There’s no word from the Chronic Dev Team regarding the release date of the new iPad 2 jailbreak. But it is expected to be released very soon. If you are an iPad 2 user and want to jailbreak, then keep your eyes peeled and your fingers crossed.
Earlier this week, the iPhone Dev Team in partnership with Stefan Esser rolled out the untethered jailbreak method for iOS 4.3.1 in the form of Redsn0w 2.9.6 RC9 and PwnageTool 4.3, then few days later the Dev Team releases the Redsn0w 0.9.6 RC11 and add the Chronic Dev Team’s animation boot logo and some minor bugs fix. Now, the iPhone Dev Team has just once again updated its Redsn0w 0.9.6 for iOS 4.3.1 jailbreak to version RC12 which is intended to fix “any lingering issues with the boot animation”.
On the other hand, if you are iPhone users and planning to unlock, then you can use Sn0wbreeze 2.5.1 for Windows to enable the animated custom bootlogo on iPhone, as well as with iPad and iPod Touch.
The jailbr eak instructions on how to use Redsn0w 0.9.6 RC12 are exactly similar to the RC9 and RC12 version. Just simply download Redsn0w 0.9.6 RC12 for Windows and Mac form the download link posted below and follow our step-by-step guide to unsheltered jailbreak iOS 4.3.1 on iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 4G, iPod Touch 3G, iPad 1, and AppleTV 2G.
Those of you who have jailbroken iOS 4.3.1 using Redsn0w 0.9.6rc9, rc10 or rc11 you can simply rerun Redsn0w 0.9.6rc12 over the existing jailbreak by selecting “Allow boot animation” option as shown in the screenshot above, but ensure that you uncheck “Install Cydia” option to avoid conflict with the existing jailbreak.
NOTE: Those of you who rely on Ultrasn0w carrier unlock MUST STAY AWAY from Redsn0w as it update the baseband of your device.
Great news for the iPhone jailbreak community, especially for iPhone users who anxiously waiting for the Ultrasn0w unlock. The iPhone Dev Team is all set to release the fixed and new version of Ultrasn0w carrier unlocking tool to allow iPhone users who have unlockable baseband to free their device form Apple’s contracted mobile phone carrier. Earlier, the iPhone Dev Team’s spokesperson MuscleNerd has uploaded a screen shot of the new ultrasn0w 1.2.1 which brings support for iOS 4.3.1 on jailbroken iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS with old basebands. This new Ultrasn0w is expected to have the bug fix for the one signal bar issue after jailbreaking using PwnageTool and Redsn0w for iOS 4.3.1.
Earlier this week, the iPhone Dev Team in collaboration with the German iPhone hacker / iPhone security specialist Stefan Esser releases the much wanted untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.3.1 for iPhone 4 (GSM model), iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 4G, iPod Touch 3G, iPad 1, and AppleTV 2G in the form of Redsn0w 0.9.6 RC9 / RC11 and PwnageTool 4.3. Additionally, iH8sn0w also followed the Dev Team release with its own Sn0wbreeze 2.5 which is based on Esser’s untethered jailbreak exploit. If you are unaware, both PwnageTool 4.3 for Mac Os X and Sn0wbreeze 2.5 for Windows have capability to untethered jailbreak iPhone and other iOS device while preserving its baseband version.
So if you are an iPhone users who jailbreak there iPhone using either PwnageTool 4.3 or with Sn0wbreeze 2.5 then you will be able to unlock your iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS with basebands 04.26.08, 05.11.07, 05.12.01, 05.13.04, 06.15.00, and 01.59.00 using Ultrasn0w 1.2.1.
We have some good news for the entire iPhone jailbreak community. The popular iPhone hacker and an iPhone security specialist have posted a YouTube video to demonstrate his new untethered jailbreak method to jailbreak iOS 4.3.1 on iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch.
Esser posted a YouTube video on his account to showcase his untethered iOS 4.3.1 jailbreak running on his iPod touch 4G. If you are unaware, an untethered jailbreak method is a jailbreak which allows you to restart your iOS device without need to re-jailbreak it. At the moment, you will be able to jailbreak iOS 4.3.1 using PwnageTool and Sn0wbreeze, however, both jailbreak tools is offering tethered jailbreak only.
Now, Esser – also known as i0nic - has announced that he already handed the iOS 4.3.1 untethered jailbreak exploit to iPhone Dev Team for beta testing. Fortunately, the undisclosed jailbreak exploit found in iOS 4.3 remains unpatched in the latest iOS 4.3.1 release. Here are some of the iOS devices that can be jailbroken on iOS 4.3.1 using this undisclosed exploit:
The only iOS device which can not be jailbroken is the recently released iPad 2. Furthermore, Esser has provided more details about his untethered jailbreak solution:
Meanwhile everyone should have noticed that my prediction became true and Apple released iOS 4.3.1 in order to fix the PWN2OWN vulnerability in Safari. It was very unlikely that Apple also fixed the kernel vulnerability I used for my untether exploit. Mainly because the kernelcache binary is about 8-10 MB in size and the likelihood that Apple finds the same vulnerability in that short amount of time was very low. However you never know until you try it. So this morning when I woke up and saw that Sn0wbreeze 2.4 beta was released I thought it would be fun to create a new video. Unfortunately Sn0wbreeze does not work with my iPad 1 and so I had to test with my iPod 4G. In the video you can see how I switch off the iPod, then restart it, show the version, show that it is tethered and has the multitasking gestures, i show that you can buy ringtones and then I show cydia and the ninja jump game from last time. Because several people misunderstood me in the past: a. I repeatedly stated that I will not release a jailbreak tool – I will only give out the untether. I did not try yet, but if it is feasible the untether could be a cydia package. b. While the vulnerability I use is in the iPad 2 kernel my untether will NOT SUPPORT the iPad 2, because there is no way to install it there (bootrom exploits fixed). – however Comex is working on that part. c. I am not giving out any ETA again, because the Jailbreak community is simply nuts. Last time I gave an ETA and even before that had passed I got constantly insulted by people that were demanding an immediate release. Sorry guys the more you insult people with the knowledge to actually do what YOU WANT the less motivation there is to use our free time to give it to you. d. The only reason why I did not finish the untether before the ETA was due to unexpected work overload in my real job. It had nothing todo with the untether being too hard or unreal. e. I don’t know why the dev team has not released a redsn0w that does tethered jailbreak for 4.3.1 – I would prefer that to be available, cause sn0wbreeze obviously does not work 100% yet. f. If you want to learn more about iPhone kernel hacking/exploitation you should come to SyScan Singapore at the end of April.http://syscan.org/index.php/sg/program
You can watch the video of iOS 4.3.1 untethered jailbreak embedded below:
We all know that the Cupertino, California-based apple is busy in patching / fixing jailbreak exploits and vulnerabilities on their iOS devices. We already reported that Apple already fixed the unreleased SHAtter exploit and the Limera1n hardware exploit used in numerous jailbreak tool on their iOS 4.3 and iPad 2. And recently, Apple releases the iOS 4.3.1 and fixed the exploit in iPad 2 that was being developed by Comex – the iPhone hacker / developer behind the JailbreakMe and Sprit jailbreak tool.
But fortunately, the iOS 4.3.1 does not fix the pwn2own bug that was discovered by Charlie Miller during the Pwn2own hacking contest where he successfully jailbreaks the recently released iOS 4.3 running on the fourth generation iPhone using the newly discovered Mobile Safari exploit. Miller tweeted the following:
“iOS 4.3.1 does not fix the pwn2own bug. It’s weird they fixed it in the next os x update after the contest, but not the next iPhone update.
More time for the bad guys to get their bindiff->iPhone exploit workflow going.”
Folks over at iClarified explain how the exploit works:
“The attack simply required that the target iPhone surfs to a rigged web site. On first attempt at the drive-by exploit, the iPhone browser crashed but once it was relaunched, Miller was able to hijack the entire address book.”
So, since this method is quite similar with Comex’s JailbreakMe, Comex may use this exploit to jailbreak the iPad 2 and he may develop it to JailbreakMe 3.0. Stay tuned!
Couple of days ago, Comex, the well-known developer behind the JailbreakMe and Spirit jailbreak tool, demonstrated his jailbroken iPad 2 and said that he will release a new jailbreak method – JailbreakMe 3.0? – very soon. Now, unfortunately, Comex has just announced that Apple has fixed the iPad 2 jailbreak exploit in iOS 4.3.1.
Comex Announced following via Twitter:
As noticed by @0naj, my kernel exploit was fixed in 4.3.1. I try not to be paranoid, but it is really hard to explain this as anything but a leak. It stayed there from 4.0.2 through 4.3, but was magically found in time for 4.3.1. well, go go @MuscleNerd and @i0n1c I guess
Now, it seems like the Cupertino, California-based Apple is winning the cat and mouse game against iOS hackers. As previously reported, Apple already patched the exploit used in Limera1n jailbreak tool as well as the unreleased SHAtter exploit that was preserved to jailbreak future iOS devices, which include the upcoming iOS 5 and iPhone 5.
But the good news is that a new iPhone hacker, Stefan Esser, is working on a new untethered jailbreak method to jailbreak the iOS 4.3.1 on iPad 2 and on other iOS devices. It is reported that Esser will soon release the beta testing version of his ware. Since this is an untethered jailbreak, you will not have to connect your device into the computer every time you reboot.
At the moment, you will be able to jailbreak – tethered jailbreak - the iOS 4.3.1 on iPhones, iPod Touches, and iPad, using Sn0wbreeze 2.4 beta 1 and PwnageTool 4.2. Stay tuned.
The unofficial PwnageTool for Windows, Sn0wbreeze is now updated to jailbreak the recently released iOS 4.3.1 o iPhone 4 (GSM model), iPhone 3GS, iPad 1, iPod touch 4G, and iPod Touch 3G.
iH8sn0w has released the first beta version of Sn0wbreeze 2.4 moments after apple relapses the iOS 4.3.1 update. Just like the previous version of Sn0wbreeze jailbreak tool, Sn0wbreeze 2.4 beta 1 will allows you to create custom iOS 4.3.1 firmware file that is pre-jailbroken, which can be used to upgrade your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch to iOS 4.3.1. Most importantly, it will gives you an opportunity to unlock your iPhone from its carrier as it preserve the unlockable baseband of your device using the “Baseband Preservation Mode”.
Here’s the official description, features, and improvements of Sn0wbreze 2.4 beta 1:
• ultrasn0w now works for basebands (01.59.00 / 04.26.08 / 05.11.07 / 05.12.01 / 05.13.04 / 06.15.00) • ultrasn0w is NOT compatible with the folllowing basebands! (02.10.04 / 03.10.01 / 04.10.01 / 05.14.02 / 05.15.04) iOS 4.3.1 is now supported. • iPhone 3GS users can upgrade to 06.15.00 baseband now under Unlocks section in Expert. • Upgrading your iPhone 3GS baseband to the 06.15.00 iPad baseband hack to unlock MAY cause you to lose your GPS!
It is worth noting that Sn0wbreeze 2.4 beta 1 is a tethered jailbreak only. Meaning, you have to tethered boot your iOS device into the computer using iBooty whenever you reboot. You can download Sn0wbreeze 2.4 beta 1 for Windows from this link.
We have some good news for all iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch users who internationally / accidentally updated their device to the recently released iOS 4.3.1. Well, we all know that apple already launches the iOS 4.3.1 for for iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 1, iPad, iPod Touch 4G, and iPod Touch 3G, but the good news is that you will be able to jailbreak this new iOS using the PwnageTool 4.2 for Mac OS X. Yes, it is the same PwnageTool released by the iPhone Dev Team that jailbreaks iOS 4.2.1. This was made possible because of the help of DjayB6 on the 4.3.1 jailbreak bundle and Universal Ramdisk Fixer.
From RedmondPie:
“The just released iOS 4.3.1 firmware update for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch has been successfully jailbroken, courtesy of some swift work by DjayB6 on iOS 4.3.1 jailbreak bundle, and Universal Ramdisk Fixer. The jailbreak though is tethered only for now, which means that you will have to boot it into jailbroken state every time you reboot.”
Additionally, PwnageTool 4.2 for Mac OS X is a tethered jailbreak method only, and it is not a stable jailbreak. This only means that you will have to use the tetheredboot utility on your Mac Os X every time you reboot.
Furthermore, iPhone users who rely on Ultrasn0w carrier unlock will greatly benefit on this because they will be able to unlock their iPhone. PwnageTool 4.2 has capability to jailbreak iPhones on iOS 4.3 while maintaining / preserving its unlockable baseband and restring the device in a pre-jailbroken iOS 4.3.1. But as mentioned previously, this is still unstable jailbreak method. So ig you aren’t sure on what you are doing, it is advisable to stay away from iOs 4.3.1 and PwnageTool 4.2 and wait for the iPhone Dev Team to update their jailbreak tool for this new software update. Stay tuned.
We have some good news for the entire iPhone jailbreak community - if you are rocking a jailbroken iOS device then you will be glad to know that Saurik (or known as Jay Freeman and the creator of Cydia) finally released the highly anticipated Cydia version 1.1 for jailbroken iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. If you are unaware, Cydia is the alternative App store jailbroken iOS devices where you can get unapproved tweaks, jailbreak apps, and programs for your jailbroken iOS. In simple words, you have to jailbreak your iOS device in order to access Cydia, and most apps available in Cydia cannot be found in official iTunes App Store.
Saurik has managed to enhanced and add more features to his Cydia. The Cydia 1.1 comes with necessary speed improvement, resume and multiple language support. Additionally, it is significantly faster and more stable, Saurik also incorporated an improved search algorithm and “resume where you left off” features.
Other features ad improvements of Cydia 1.1 include:
• The ability to run and operate Activator, libstatusbar, and SimulatedKeyEvents while Cydia is running • an overall speed improvement, including the “Loading Changes” dialog • “much less” memory usage • A more advanced search mechanism with a new relevancy algorithm • Better management of broken repositories • Read our previous post for full details about what’s new in Cydia.
You can visit our affiliate site, www.news.ziphone.org, to know more about Cydia 1.1. In the meantime, you can follow the simple instructions posted below to update to Cydia 1.1:
Step 1: Just simply launch Cydia from the Springboard of your jailbroken iOS device Step 2: Then refresh your packages (done automatically) Step 3: You will be prompted to upgrade “Essential packages” or “Complete Upgrade”. Select “Complete Upgrade”. Step 4: Cydia will be updated to version 1.1 and then will require you to restart Cydia.
Previously, there are two ways to unlock Apple iPhone. First, by modifying the hardware used on the device, however, this process is not reversible and t will void the warranty of your device. The other one is through hacking or jailbreaking the operating system of the phone so that you will be able to install Ultrasn0w carrier unlocking tool that can only be downloaded in Cydia.
But now, a new method and easy methods is now available to unlock your iPhone in just a snap. All you have to do is to insert the SIM card and follow few steps and you will be able to use your iPhone from other mobile phone carrier, T-Mobile for instance. This special SIM card is called Gevey SIM Interposer card, and it is available for $75 or more.
You can now jailbreak iPhone 4 on baseband 02.10.04 and 03.10.01, unfortunately, if you have updated the baseband version of your iPhone you will not be able to unlock it using Ultrasn0w. But with Gevey SIM card, you can unlock iPhone 4 iOS 4.0 / 4.1 / 4.2 / 4.2.1 / 4.3 and baseband number 1.59.00, 2.10.04, 3.10.01, and 04.10.01. And in order to stay unlock, you have to maintain the battery life of your device. But once the iPhone battery drains out, you will lose the unlock and you have to repeat the entire unlocking process again.
If you do not want to spend $70 then you can wait for iPhone Dev Team’s to unlock your iPhone. For more details visit: http://applenberry.com

Last week we has informed you that Comex is the first iOS hacker that successfully jailbreak iOS 4.3 on the iPad 2. But today, we will find out a bit more information regarding the highly awaited iOS 4.3 jailbreak. In a reply to a Twitter users asking him regarding the exploit Comex had discovered in iOS 4.3, he said that he utilizes a userland exploit, which means the jailbreak might be applied directly from the device’s operating system, the same exploit used on his previous jailbreak tool JailbreakMe. And since it’s a userland exploit, it can be patched easily with just a simple software update, just like what Apple did with JailbreakMe.
Now, the good news is that, Comex has just confirmed that there's new bootrom exploit discovered by someone to jailbreak iPad 2 running iOS 4.3. Well, he might talking about i0nic’s (also known as Stefan Esser) untethered jailbreak method which is set to release very soon. However, with the rumors of iOS 4.3.1 coming in the next couple weeks, Esser might delay the release date of his untethered jailbreak, or thy might even save this exploit for after the iPhone 5 comes out.
Hoosiermo: @comex: is your new iPad 2 exploit in the boot rom? Or a userland exploit? Kinda curious. I am one of the lucky ones who landed one day one.
Comex: @Hoosiermmo: Userland, but I hear someone has a bootrom vulnerability that they might have exploited.
Though Comex already had a jailbroken iPad 2 on iOS 4.3, we didn’t get much more information about the jailbreak and its release date. It is speculated that this method will work only on iOS 4.3, but this has yet to be confirmed. Stay tuned!
iH8sn0w, the well-known iPhone hacker and developer behind the Sn0wbreeze jailbreak tool for Windows, has just released the latest version his jailbreak tool to jailbreak the recently released iOS 4.3 on iPhone 4 (GSM), iPhone 3GS, iPad 2, iPad2, iPod Touch 4G, and iPod Touch 3G. Additionally, Sn0wbreeze 2.3 will help iPhone users who want to unlock their device from its carrier from preserving the unlockable baseband of the iPhone form getting upgraded so that it can be unlocked using the latest version of Ultrasn0w. In fact, it was considered as an unofficial PwnageTool for Windows.
At the moment, Sn0wbreeze 2.3 only offers tethered jailbreak so you need to have and use iBooty boot your device into jailbroken state every time you reboot your device.
Since it still in beta version, you should be note that there’s some few bugs and glitches when you jailbreak your iOS devices using Sn0wbnreeze 2.3. Additionally, it is important to note that MobileSubstrate is currently broken in iOS 4.3 and as a result some jailbreak apps such as the popular WinterBoard, Folder Enhancer, Lockdown, etc won’t work.
You can download Sn0wbreeze 2.3 beta 1 using this link.
It’s been a while when Apple rolled out the final version of iOS 4.3 to the public for the upcoming iPad 2, including for other iOS device such as the iPhone 4 (GSM only), iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 4G, iPod Touch 3G, and AppleTV 2G (sorry, no software support for iPhone 3G users). Now, as expected, the developer behind the TinyUmbrella tool Semaphore has rolled out the latest version of TinyUmbrella to allow iOS device users especially the new iPad 2 users to save the SHSH blobs of their device.
The TinyUmbrella version 4.30.00 supports iOS 4.3 and all iPad 2 model, such as the Wi-Fi, CDMA, and GSM model. Semaphore also incorporated a new tweak requested by the creator of Cydia app , Jay Freeman (also known as Saurik ). In addition, Semaphonre also notes that iOS devices users who do not update to the latest version of TinyUmbrella may experience significant slowness when saving the SHSH blobs of their device in the future.
TinyUmbrella now supports all three new models of iPad 2. I’ve also added a much-needed tweak per saurik’s request. If you don’t update to the latest version, you may experience /significant/ slowness when saving your SHSHs in the future. With this release, 4.3 is supported. I plan on making some changes to the UI to help out the poor saps stuck on vertical resolutions < 900. I’m also going to be removing the proxy section of the app and simply using the system proxy settings. You should have this one. No excuses, especially if you are jailbreaker or unlocker. You can download TinyUmbrella 4.30.00 for Mac OS X and Windows on the download link below. • Download TinyUmbrella 4.30.00 for Mac OS X • Download TinyUmbrella 4.30.00 for Windows
Earlier, it seems like we will be able to jailbreak the Apple’s iPad 2 tablet due to the fact that the iOS 4.3 Gold Master was easily jailbroken on other iOS devices. However, apple surprised the entire iPhone jailbreak community when they released the latest version of iPad that runs on iOS 4.3 and powered with a new hardware, the A5 dual-core processor. And as a result, all hardware-based exploit has been patched. These include GeoHot’s Limera1n exploit and the Chronic Dev Team’s SHAtter exploit.
For those of you who aren’t aware, SHAtter exploit was discovered by Posixninja of the Chronic Dev Team. However, SHAtter exploit never saw the light, because GeoHot launched his jailbreak tool called Limera1n before the Chronic Dev-Team could get their jailbreak out. Both Limera1n and SHAtter was made use of an A4 chip exploit. Also, other jailbreak tools such as Sn0wbreeze, PwnageTool, and Redsn0w utilizes Limeara1n exploit. Meaning, the aforementioned jailbreak tool will not work on iPad 2 and future iOS devices.
MuscleNerd, the spokesperson of the iPhone Dev Team, recently Tweeted regarding the fix:
"Early testing also seems to show at least one thing SHAtter depends on was gone by March 2010 too :(" "SHAtter can't work at all with the "thing" i referred to gone" "iPad2 bootrom version iBoot-838.3 means it was compiled March'10. Seems geohot guessed right: limera1n was already closed"
As quoted above, it is very interesting to know that fixes were actually around a year ago, long before the hacks were even released. Anyway, hopefully the Dev Team and iPhone hackers figure out how to resolve this issue. Stay tuned!
This is bad news! iH8sn0w, the popular iPhone hacker, and the mastermind behind the sn0wbreeze jailbreak tool for Windows, has confirmed via tweet that the Cupertino, California-based Apple has patched GeoHot’s Limera1n exploit in iPad 2, and possibly on other upcoming iOS devices. Meaning, all current software jailbreak tools (i.e. Greenpois0n, Sn0wbreeze, PwnageTool, and Redsn0w) that has been used to jailbreak previous and recently released iOS will not work on iPad 2 (all model), because these jailbreaking tools incorporates GeoHot’s bootrom based Limera1n exploit in order to jailbreak the iOS.
iH8snow: “Confirmed: limera1n is patched in iPad 2.”
For those who don't know, GeoHot launches the Limera1n jailbreak tool to jailbreak the iOS 41 on iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. Limera1n is a hardware exploit, which means it can only be patched when they update the hardware of the device and that’s what Apple did. They upgraded the iPad 2 hardware.
But there’s still hope, the Chronic Dev Team is testing their SHAtter bootrom exploit to untethered jailbreak iOS 4.3 on iPad 2. Let’s all hope that SHAtter works on iOS 4.3. Additionally, MuscleNerd of the iPhone Dev Team has just announced that there are 3 or more iPhone hackers or Dev Teams working on untethered jailbreak solutions for iOS 4.3 and it is expected to be released soon.
The iOS 4.3 is already out and if you are a jailbreaker, the first thing you want to know is the jailbreak solution for the recently released iOS 4.3 for iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad2, iPad 1, iPod touch 4G, iPod Touch 3G, and AppleTV 2G. Well, it seems like we need to wait at least a week or two before we see a jailbreak solution for Apple’s iOS 4.3. But the good news is that, there are 3 or more iPhone hacker and Dev Teams working on to produce an untethered jailbreak for the recently released iOS 4.3.
We all know that the iPhone Dev Team and the Chronic Dev Team will release their untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.3 in the form of Redsn0w / PwnageTool and Greenpois0n RCx. But yesterday, the spokesperson and integral member of the iPhone Dev Team, MuscleNerd has hinted that the untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.3 may come from many sources:
"The 4.3 untether JB could come from many sources.. @i0n1c, the pwn2own contestants, @comex are 3 possible (maybe more?)"
Comex has a good track record in releasing jailbreak solutions for Apple’s iOS, he held responsible for the popular jailbreaking tools like Spirit and JailbreakMe. He also authored numerous tools and fixes for jailbroken iOS devices. Aside from the above mentioned name, the popular iPhone and PlayStation 3 hacker might also participate in iPhone untethered jailbreak scene with his revamped version of Limera1n or with Rubyra1n. However, while waiting for the jailbreak solution, it is highly recommended to STAY AWAY from iOS 4.3 and wait till the jailbreak solution for iOS 4.3 was released.
