Chronic Dev Team Preparing SHAtter Bootrom Exploit to Jailbreak iOS 4.3

Not long after the official announcement of the second-generation iPad that runs on iOS 4.3, the front man of the Chronic Dev Team Joshua Hill (also known as p0sixninja) seems like preparing his SHAtter Bootrom exploit to jailbreak the upcoming iOS 4.3 running on iPad 2, as well as other iOS devices such as the iPhone 4 (GSM), iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 4G, iPod Touch 3G, and iPad 1.

Well, we all know that its predecessor first-gen iPad was jailbroken on iOS 4.2.1 and iOS 4.1 with Limera1n, Greenpois0n, Redns0w, Sn0wbreeze, and PwnageTool. And as expected, Apple patched up this exploit, which mean these tools will not work on iOS 4.3 and on iPad 2. However, back in October last year, p0sixninja and in collaboration with co-iPhone hacker pod2G developed the SHAtter exploit to jailbreak iOS 4.1 and they are all set to launch this exploit in the form of Greenpois0n, however, iPhone hacker GeoHot stepped in and released his Limera1n bootrom exploit to jailbreak iOS 4.1. So the Dev Team decided to save this exploit for future iOS devices.

Here’s the tweet by p0sixninja:
“We’re crossing our fingers and hoping that at least SHAtter is still in iPad2”

On the other hand, Apple recently seeded the final Gold Master version of iOS 4.3 to developers, and the final public of the iOS 4.3 will be release on the 11 of March, along with the iPad 2 - which will be available in black and white. In the meantime, let’s all hope the SHAtter exploit works on iOS 4.3. Stay tuned for more updates.
