Greenopois0n untethered jailbreak is already been released for a while now, however, most jailbreakers especially those who rely on Ultrasn0w carrier unlock choose not to jailbreak using Greenpois0n because we all know that Greenpois0n will update the baseband of your device to unlockable baseband. Meaning, you will lose the chances to jailbreak if you use Greenpois0n. But the good news is that the iPhone Dev Team’s PwnageTool software jailbreak tool has been updated and it is now available for download.
For those who aren’t familiar, PwnageTool is a software jailbreak tool that was designed for Mac OS X and it is capable to permanently untethered jailbreak iPhone (all model including the Verizon iPhone 4), iPad, iPod Touch, and AppleTV. Additionally, this tool is also used by most unlockers to prepare their iPhone for unlock. PwnageTool has a capability to jailbreak your iPhone and create a custom firmware (iOS 4.2.1 ipsw) while preserving the unlockable baseband to be able to unlock using the latest version of Ultrasn0w carrier unlock tool.

With [Chronic Dev Team's] permission, we’ve incorporated their 4.2.1 “feedface” untether into today’s PwnageTool 4.2. This means iPhone unlockers can safely restore to a custom 4.2.1 pre-jailbroken IPSW and retain their current baseband and unlock.
PwnageTool also includes two very recent improvements to the 4.2.1 JB: iBooks was just fixed by @comex and @pushfix last night so that it works as intended on DRMed books, and the wifi problem on AppleTV 2G was fixed by @nitotv, @DHowett, and @saurik. Both of these fixes will also be available in upcoming Cydia package updates, so if you’re already jailbroken you can wait for those updates rather than restore and jailbreak again
PwnageTool utilizes “feedface” untether or the Greenpois0n exploit that was developed by the Chronic Dev Team to achieve untethered jailbreak on iOS 4.2.1, and it supports all iOS devices running on iOS 4.2.1 other than the second generation iPod Touch. Furthermore, this version of PwnageTool also fixed the Wi-Fi problem that some users had with the second-generation AppleTV, as well as the iBooks issue.
